主要讲述了以1931年“九一八”事变之后，日本侵略者控制东三省并加以侵略华北大地为背景，阐述了以“潘多拉”为代号的引诱下，几位身份不同的情报人员在历经国仇、爱恨、纷争后共同奋战的传奇故事。n1934年底，三名执行任务失败，遭日军俘虏的国民党东北空军将士，姜城、彭越和上官羽破，被国民党方面组织人员解救回到天津，国民党方面分析三人中一名已经叛变。国民党方面决定派琉璃子调查少校上官羽破，琉璃子遂对他进行了监控，上官都逐一应对，且在空军建设过程中，上官羽破始终表现突出。琉璃子在调查上官羽破的过程中，逐渐产生了对他的爱情，上官羽破对琉璃子也有好感，但上官羽破与女朋友墨纯相处多年，这段感情使上官羽破与琉璃子都陷入纠结中。上官羽破逐渐地接触了中共的一些主张，内心形成了对共产主义的信念。国民党方面渐渐把严查目标转向姜城、彭越，叛徒姜城终于伏法。1936年底，“西安事变”爆发，这使国民党方面备受压力，上官羽破与琉璃子接受了中共的抗日救国主张，踏上了寻找中国共产党的道路。
